This work pays tribute to Van Gogh's Sunflowers and The Starry Night. The thick, dense colors and sculpted, powerful brushstrokes create a stark yet moving contrast between the yellows and browns. This presents a beautiful world full of sunlight and hope, drawing viewers into the artist's rich emotional world. The French word for sunflowers, "tournesol", means "sun turning on the ground" - they are often seen as symbols of light and hope. To Van Gogh, sunflowers were the perfect subject to express his ideas as their blazing, all-pervasive flowers deeply attracted him. Sunflowers represent sunlight, symbols of light and heat, as well as a portrait of the burning emotions churning within Van Gogh.
